Hidden Traps Which Increase your Cholesterol
Whenever cholesterol is concerned, it is wise to eat a healthy diet. A diet rich in fruit, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and fish is a must. However, in spite of trying to eat a heart healthy diet, there are numerous hidden traps just waiting around the corner. In this article I will discuss some of the ways that we may be quietly making our LDL levels higher.
First of all, just because a certain product states that it has o grams of cholesterol it does not mean that it will not raise your LDL. Another nutrition fact which you should keep an eye out for is saturated fat. Saturated fat is responsible for increasing our bad cholesterol. When buying whole grain products, be sure that one of the first ingredients on the list is either whole wheat or whole grain. Many products out there may state that they are whole grain when in fact they only contain small percentage of grains. So be sure to keep your eyes open and don’t be afraid to check the Nutrition Facts and the ingredient list. When looking at the Nutrition Facts also make sure to check how many servings a product contains. You may think you are consuming just one serving when in fact you are consuming two; thereby, doubling your calorie intake.
When eating out always ask for foods that are grilled, steamed, baked and broiled. Substitute fries or mashed potatoes for fresh veggies or heart healthy beans. Eating a heart healthy diet such as this can help you lose weight. Aside from the best diet pills, such as hoodia, a healthy diet is a must for anyone who wishes to shed a few extra pounds. So be smart and eat a well balanced and healthy diet.
