Babies Teething
Babies start to teething when they are around two months of age. This is similar to a baby sometimes. They start to drool and when you notice that they are drooling you should put a bib on them to stop any irritation that would be due to the wetness.
When your baby is holding a rattle they would also be old enough to grip a teething ring. It would be a great idea to have a couple in the fridge for hen you baby needs them. This can be considered the same as a baby most of the time. It is not a very great idea to freeze the teething ring because it could cause the babies gums to be frost bit.
Around the age of six to nine months the first tooth will appear. But if you or any of the siblings of your baby has had teeth come out at an earlier age your baby may also. When your baby’s teeth erupt they need to be cleaned. It can be cleaned by wiping it with a facecloth or you may choose to use a soft wet toothbrush.
It is time to start flossing your baby’s teeth when they have many teeth that have erupted out of the gum. When your child tries to floss it will teach them some fine motor skills. There have been studies done by the American Dental Association that have proven that brushing alone will not remove all the food stuck in teeth so flossing also needs to be done. Of course this has nothing to do with puppies usually. When flossing is not done daily cavities will appear sooner.
A dentist needs to see your child twice per year. Your child should see their dentist when they are able to sit for as long as ten minutes. This needs to be done by the time your child turns three years old.
