Making the Most of Your Home
With the downturn in the housing market, many people are either taking their houses off the market, or deciding to stay where they are. After all, you bought that house to live in, so it must have some good things about it. You might as well avoid all the hassle of moving and enjoy your home.
But what it if is not big enough for your expanded family? Or you just fancy a bit more space?
If you have plenty of space behind the house, you could get an extension built. This can be built in brick, wood or upvc, which tends to be the most popular. Of course, you can also get a Dublin builder to make an extension in brick – these days, builders will work far from their main office.
An attic conversion instead of an extension
Maybe your garden is too small, or you can’t afford an extension. Well, the answer in that case is to see how you can extend your house inside. Instead of getting an extension built, get a builder to do an attic conversion for you. Attic conversions are great, and the kids love having those extra rooms, even though there may be no trimmings or luxury there.
Most houses in Ireland have lofts or attics, and you can get an attic conversion to convert a draughty old space into one or two extra rooms. You will need a staircase – unless it is for occasional use in which case a good loft ladder will do – and a lot of insulation in the roof.
